Class of 2022

School shootings in America have been a devastating and recurring issue for many years, causing fear and trauma for students, teachers, and families across the country. More than 1,300 teens (aged 12-17) were killed and nearly 3,800 injured in 2022; of those, more than 300 children (aged 11 and younger) were killed.

These tragic events have resulted in the loss of countless innocent lives, leaving families and communities shattered. Moreover, the trauma and fear experienced by survivors and witnesses can last a lifetime. Despite efforts to address the issue, including increased security measures and mental health resources, a definitive solution to prevent school shootings has not been found. The lack of progress on this critical issue underscores the urgent need for continued efforts to address the underlying causes and prevent future tragedies.
Insight:

There is a lack of effort to change US gun laws to stop tragedy from occuring.

Idea:

Create the ‘Class of 2022’ yearbook where all the victims of mass-shootings are showcased in addition to their interests or dreams. Mail this book to powerful US lawmakers in order to pressure them to change the law.
